WHAT IS BREAST AUGMENTATION?

Breast augmentation is a procedure where Dr. Davila increases your cup size with implants that he places inside your breasts. The implants not only increase the size of your breasts, but they also come in different configurations, giving you the shape you want.

Breast augmentation is a technique used by women to enhance their breast size, as well as to restore their breasts after a mastectomy.

WHAT IMPLANTS ARE AVAILABLE?

Dr. Davila offers two types of implants: saline and silicone. The choice between the two comes down to your preferences and comfort level. The saline implants are generally heavier while the silicone ones feel more natural to the touch.

Dr. Davila offers two brands of implants:

Natrelle® by Allergan: Natrelle implants feature a saline or silicone gel that is soft and natural to the touch. The implants come in different shapes and sizes to give you fuller breasts, more rounded breasts, or teardrop-shaped implants to mirror the curve of your natural breasts.
Mentor®: Mentor implants come in both saline and silicone and there are six different sizes: classic; moderate plus; high profile and ultra high profile (which features MemoryGel®); and the moderate plus and high profile (featuring MemoryGel® Xtra). They also come in either a smooth or textured finish.

HOW IS THE IMPLANT PLACED?

When it comes time to decide how to place the implants, Dr. Davila discusses the different options with you, which include:

Going in through your areola
Making an incision in the fold below your breast
Going in through your belly button
Threading the implant through an incision in your armpit (for saline only)

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO AFTER THE PROCEDURE?

The implant procedure itself is very quick and Dr. Davila is often able to complete it in an hour or two. Afterward, you’ll need to take it easy for a few days to a week before you resume your normal activities.

To ensure that the implants settle into place properly, Dr. Davila supplies you with a special garment that you should wear while you heal.

It may take a few months before the swelling completely subsides, after which your new profile will be fully revealed.
